Thank you! Bike4Life a success, photos & more prizes

I'd like to personally thank everyone who participated in, donated to, volunteered for, and sponsored Bike4Life. It was the biggest and most successful event yet in its 5 year history!

See all photos here.

People of all ages came out to bike and enjoy a BBQ with live music Saturday, in support of safer streets in Metro Boston. Collectively, riders have raised over

$62,000 for LivableStreets. We are so close to reaching our $75,000 goal by September 30. It's not too late to support the Bike4Life fundraiser. Donate $15 today and help us get that much closer to our goal.

Why Bike4Life and the route? Bike4Life (previously called Ride4BobZeeb) started in 2010 as a memorial ride for Bob Zeeb, who died in 2009 after an avoidable bike crash. LivableStreets was chosen as the beneficiary for the ride because we work to prevent crashes through advocating for improved street design. The route from Newton was chosen because Bob was from Newton and regularly cycled there (not to mention it's gorgeous! 24 or 40 miles on smooth roads past farms, woods and estates).

Donate or raise $200 by
September 30 for
chance to win ride jersey.

This year, the Bike4Life ride is supporting LivableStreets Safer Streets Campaign. As part of the campaign we are working on Vision Zero - a project to call on city leaders to bring the number of traffic deaths in Boston down to zero with clear action steps. "We hear stories every day about our member near misses and close calls as they try to get around the city safely," said Executive Director Jackie Douglas. Bike4Life is a way for people to get involved and take action, and not feel powerless. Bike4Life sustains our campaigns and gives us funds each year to advocate for safer and more livable streets, so children and adults can travel confidently on foot, and by bike, transit, or car.
