Virtual Earth Day - Birds, Bark, and Brews

Join the Mystic River Watershed Association for two quick 101 workshops led by MyRWA staff and volunteers. Learn the basics of birding and tree identification (bark!), then raise a glass to Mother Earth with them. They will also announce how much trash was removed from the watershed—and who picked up the most—during the #MysticTrashTag challenge.

Workshop leaders:

Birding 101 | Andy Hrycyna | Andy Hrycyna is watershed scientist at MyRWA and a birder. Andy has a special interest in urban ecology and in documenting the diversity of birds that make a living in a variety of urban spaces. He is a member of the Nuttall Ornithological Club. In 2020, Andy and others started weekly bird walks--to which all are welcome--at Macdonald Park in Medford and other locations in the Mystic watershed.

Tree ID 101 | Zoe Davis | Zoe serves on the Climate Ready Boston Team at the Environment Department. As a project coordinator, she supports the development of neighborhood climate resilience planning, the integration of preparedness climate change projections into municipal projects, planning, and permit review, and the development of resources for residents, small businesses, and other stakeholders to take action.  Previously, Zoe served as a land stewardship coordinator and TerraCorps Service Member with the Mystic River Watershed Association.
