Urban Innovation Festival

Starting on July 29, Boston Design Museum's 3-day urban hack-a-thon will include teams consisting of 4-6 innovators from various industries that will gather and each be paired with a community advisor and will be challenged with revitalizing the I-93 overpass. During the 3-day festival teams will brainstorm, ideate, and prototype solutions in full view of our public audience underneath the I-93 overpass, who will be able to provide feedback in real-time in-person and over social media.

Teams competing in this design challenge include diverse rosters of engineers, designers, architects, and innovators. Participating teams include Payette, Autodesk, Essential Design, Shepley Bulfinch, Fidelity Labs, Wentworth Institute of Technology, CBT, MassArt, Bose, and Stantec.

At various points throughout the festival teams will present their progress, and ultimately they’ll present their final prototypes in front of our judges.

Give your feedback to design professionals, vote on your favorite urban solution, enjoy food trucks, kids activities, and community interviews. Make your voice heard and view design in action!
