McGrath Boulevard Project Development Working Group Meeting

As part of their commitment to facilitate a thorough, inclusive public involvement process for this project, MassDOT has established a working group to inform and advise the agency on important community and stakeholder issues affecting the development of an implementable design for the McGrath Boulevard Project by incorporating working group members’ local knowledge and expertise. The working group is made up by local residents, business owners, transportation and green space advocates, as well as representatives from local, state, and Federal governments. The goal of the working group is to assist MassDOT in determining a single preferred alternative to be selected by the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EOEEA) for documentation in an Environmental Notification Form (ENF). All organization which participated in the initial, "Grounding McGrath" study were invited to continue their effort in the McGrath Boulevard Project Development phase. In order to establish an appropriate and well balanced working group for this phase, MassDOT worked with the City of Somerville and local elected officials to add new members. Working group members are responsible for representing their specific neighborhoods, groups, or organizations concerns in addition to informing community members of upcoming project announcements.

The initial working group session took place on November 19, 2014 at the Bunker Hill Holiday Inn located at 30 Washington Street, Somerville MA, 02143. Since this time, four additional working group sessions have taken place at the East Somerville Community School located at the 50 Cross Street, Somerville MA, 02145. All working group sessions are open to the public and attendance is encouraged by any interested parties. Additional public outreach efforts have been made by MassDOT and the project team including targeted briefings to neighborhood association groups as well as public briefings at the ArtBeat Festival in Davis Square and Union Square Farmers Markets.

Additional public information meetings will be held over the course of the concept development phase. To ensure that you learn about each one of them in advance, please sign up for email updates.
