LSA is auctioning off a 2015 Heavy Duty NL by Royal Dutch Gazelle—the most popular bike brand in the Netherlands. A new one costs around $1,000, but here’s your chance to get one in excellent condition for less.
This Omaha Orange beauty is pre-owned, but it’s in like-new condition. It was used once for a bicycle tour and has been stored indoors at the LSA office since. It was just fully inspected and serviced by a bike shop, so it’s in perfect condition and ready to ride.
The highlights:
- 3-speed Shimano internal gear hub with front & rear roller brakes
- Low-step aluminum frame (size 54, fits ~5’5”–5’10”)
- Comfortable cruiser-style handlebars and seat
- Cargo-ready: front rack (22 lbs) + rear rack (55 lbs) with a weatherproof Buca Boot storage box
- Weatherproof: full fenders, enclosed chain case, internal cables
- Always visible: dynamo-powered headlight & battery rear light
Stylish, sturdy, and practical, the Heavy Duty NL is built to carry you (and your groceries, your kid, and your farmers’ market flowers) wherever the road takes you. Bid now and support LSA’s work for safer streets!
Bidding open now through the end of September

On July 23rd, LivableStreets attended a workshop hosted by Age-Friendly Boston and facilitated by Dr. Caitlin Coyle of the Gerontology Institute at UMass Boston. The purpose of this workshop was to envision ways transportation can become more age and dementia friendly. Age-Friendly Boston partners with the City’s public agencies and community groups to enhance the quality of life for older residents.
During this workshop, participants were given three questions to discuss:
- Considering transportation & walkability in Boston, what are the challenges facing older adults?
- Considering transportation & walkability, what are the big solutions that would improve livability for older Bostonians?
- What are some initial steps that can be taken towards developing those big solutions?
The city had thoughtfully designed this workshop to gather input from diverse community groups, aiming to enhance the city's accessibility. LivableStreets advocated for age-friendly public transportation policies that would require senior citizen housing complexes to be integrated into bus routes with maintained bus shelters, something which we hear from older bus riders during our surveying. Pedal Power Museum of Science

On August 23, LivableStreets joined fellow bike advocates at Pedal Power 2025, a resource fair and community celebration organized by HUBLUV in partnership with the Museum of Science. The event highlighted how bicycling and pedestrian infrastructure can strengthen communities, improve personal health, and address the climate crisis.
This year, our LivableStreets team focused on kids’ safety and shared updates on our greenways work. We invited kids to draw their dream bike adventures. We heard ideas that ranged from biking on rainbows to bringing cats along for the ride. As the kids reminded us of the simple joys of biking, we reminded them of key tips for staying safe on city streets.
Adults got in on the fun too - they got to play a game to identify the different types of greenways in Boston. We asked everyone to share their favorites, and many people told us how greenways make biking feel safer and more enjoyable across the city.
Overall, it was a wonderful day to connect with residents, celebrate the joy of biking, and hear creative ideas about what a safe, accessible biking future in Boston could look like!
