Kendall Square is home to more than a handful of different bike rack forms. Why is this the case? Is there a benefit to having different types of bike racks? What are bike rack best practices? This walking tour will make several stops to assess and discuss the various bike rack styles in Kendall Square through the lens of APBP’s Essentials of Bike Parking manual. Former APBP Boston Co-Chair and MAPC Senior Transportation Planner David Loutzenheiser will discuss the history of the APBP guide and his role in helping author it. Special guest Julia Hansen of Flycycle will join us to speak about Flycycle’s vision for bike racks as well and the City of Cambridge’s efforts to produce a better bike rack. After the tour, meet at Commonwealth Kitchen to grab beers and continue the discussion!
