DRAFT 2016 State Rail Plan Update - Public Meeting

The Massachusetts State Rail Plan was originally developed and approved in 2010. This rail plan incorporates an in-depth evaluation of the freight rail system with a detailed analysis of passenger rail infrastructure and operations to provide a vision for the state rail system. The findings and recommendations of the Rail Plan are based on a comprehensive evaluation of the Commonwealth’s freight, commuter and passenger rail transportation system: its operations, and effect on economic development and quality of life. As part of the evaluation, the Rail Plan examines the public and private trade-offs between a range of investments in the rail system.

At this public meeting, MassDOT will review the current state of the rail system, identify planned improvements and outline the Commonwealth's four-year plan and 20-year vision for the statewide rail system.
