Design Implications of the Highway

Please join the Boston Society of Architects Infra\tecture Committee for a multi-disciplinary and thought-provoking discussion about highways.

Boston has been torn down, dug up, and remade in the name of highways. The legacy of city highway projects has made infrastructure household names – including the Central Artery, the Big Dig, the Inner Belt, the Southwest Corridor, and the Allston I-90 Interchange. The design and implications of highways are writ large on this city, and many others, and highways will remain a very visible part of the transportation system. This Infra\tecture session will examine the origin, evolution, and best practices of the design and integration of highways into urban districts.
