The groundbreaking ceremony for the city's Connect Historic Boston initiative will take place this Friday at Blackstone Block! This $24 million, TIGER-funded project aims to "make it easy to discover Boston's National Park Service sites and enjoy exploring the city's past and present on foot, bike, and transit." The plan includes a new separated bike trail from the Harbor Islands Pavilion through the North End to Beacon Hill, the complete reconstruction of Causeway Street, and reconstructive improvements to Blackstone Block, Constitution Road, and Joy Street.
LivableStreets has been involved with this project since 2013, offering comment on the preliminary plans and attending public meetings as the city starting designing and pursued federal TIGER funding. We hope you will join the City in celebrating the official beginning of construction.
