The proposed regulation is established pursuant to M.G.L. c. 159, §101 and promotes revenue collection and addresses issues related to the fraudulent or illegal evasion of fare payments on vehicles or ferries owned by or operated for the MBTA. 703 CMR 5.00 establishes a process by which violators may be issued a noncriminal citation and assessed a fine proportionate to the nature of the offense.

Testimony may be presented orally at the public hearing or in writing. While MBTA encourages all interested parties to submit testimony in advance of the hearing, written comments will be accepted until 8 PM on Thursday, April 15, 2021.
