MBTA Public Hearing | Fare Evasion Regulations

Event Description

As a part of the Fare Transformation project, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) will hold a virtual public hearing regarding a proposed new regulation, 703 CMR 5.00 Fare Evasion.

The proposed regulation is established pursuant to M.G.L. c. 159, §101 and promotes revenue collection and addresses issues related to the fraudulent or illegal evasion of fare payments on vehicles or ferries owned by or operated for the MBTA. 703 CMR 5.00 establishes a process by which violators may be issued a warning or noncriminal citation and assessed a fine proportionate to the nature of the offense.

A virtual public hearing will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

Attendees are welcome to make comments orally at the public hearing or in writing. Written comments will be accepted until 11:59 PM on Tuesday, June 21, 2022. Written comments must be submitted by email or postal mail. Email is strongly preferred.
