MassDOT is undertaking the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge Replacement Project over Commonwealth Avenue to reconstruct the existing bridges carrying Massachusetts Avenue over Commonwealth Avenue in Back Bay. The contract was awarded to SPS New England, Inc. Accelerated bridge construction techniques will be used to minimize traffic impacts and complete the project as quickly as possible. Coordination with other projects in the area and with the City of Boston is a significant focus.

The project area extends east and westbound on Commonwealth Avenue from Charlesgate East to Hereford Street, and on Massachusetts Avenue between the ramps from Commonwealth Avenue east and westbound.

At this public meeting, the project team will discuss final preparations, including construction and traffic management plans, for Phase 3 of the project. Mass. Ave will be closed to all modes of travel from 10:00 pm on Thursday, May 10, to 5:00 am on Tuesday, May 15.
