Autonomous vehicles, also called driverless cars, are vehicles that guide themselves, by sensing their environment and navigating without human input. The Town of Arlington thinks this is an important development that could transform transportation, impacting residents of the Town, and our public resources, including our streets and sidewalks, and even affect our Town finances. The Arlington Department of Planning and Community Development, along with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council are sponsoring an educational forum on Autonomous Vehicles. Come and learn about the state of research and development of driverless cars, and potential impacts on public infrastructure and land use.
