Attend this meeting of the MBTA Fiscal Management & Control Board and speak up in favor of overnight bus service in greater Boston. A pilot proposal—sponsored by the Cities of Boston, Cambridge and Somerville and TransitMatters—presents two alternatives: NightBus Peak (for peak overnight in addition to expanded early morning service), and NightBus Continuous (for uninterrupted service between 1am and 5am).
The proposal, along with data compiled by the MBTA and the co-sponsors, demonstrated a clear demand for overnight service. Earlier this year the MBTA put out a RFI for overnight service. After receiving two responses they determined none of them were suitable for overnight service. The MBTA has asked the Board to decide on whether to advance NightBus Peak or NightBus Continuous at its August 14th Meeting.
