Move over track bike, now there's something more comfortable. Maria Salve and Dan Sorger, co-owners of Dutch Bikes in Somerville, are bringing European standards of practicality, function and utility to cycling in Boston. Importers of handbuilt bicycles that favor comfort and ease over speed, Dutch Bikes wants to change the way you ride, and conduct business, around the city.

With an array of 3-speeds, cruisers, cargo bikes and more, Dutch Bikes feels the age of the bicycle as urban transport has come to the U.S. and are striving to provide us bikes that are up for the task.

"Transportation is the biggest challenge facing us today. To this end, we at the Dutch Bicycle Company realized that city bicycles and tricycles would work the best within the existing confines of our current transportation system and not require special support ie. Hydrogen stations, overhead wires for power etc."

Will the USA become a "casualty of the world fuel shortage"? Not if Dutch Bikes can help it..

Join us on Thursday, July 24 for the LivableStreets Alliance Street Talk Series and learn more about urban transportation issues and the quest for an integrated system that balances biking, walking and public transit with motorized transport.
